AWARENESS ON MENSTRUAL HYGIENE

On Tuesday, April 1, 2026, the Center for the Promotion of Women and the Family (CPFF) of Yaoundé III hosted a pioneering initiative: the awareness campaign on menstrual hygiene.

The ceremony brought together young girls, women, and local stakeholders for a transformative day. Participants from diverse backgrounds delved into best practices for menstrual hygiene: healthy cycle management, selection of appropriate hygiene products, and breaking taboos surrounding menstruation.

These sessions, led by expert facilitators, revealed a poignant reality: menstrual precariousness that hinders education and undermines the dignity of thousands of women and girls in our communities.

Menstrual hygiene kits were solemnly handed over to the participants. These packages, consisting mainly of sanitary towels, soap, and educational guides, symbolize a decisive step toward women’s empowerment and the promotion of their fundamental rights.

Beyond concrete actions, this pilot initiative by MINPROFF aims at a broader ambition: restore feminine dignity, boost public health, and build a future where no girl misses school because of her period.
